I've heard of a lawyer who put a wire in his cigar and the jury was distracted by the fact the ashes never fell apart, so much so that they ignored the opposing side and as such the smoking lawyer won. Is this tactic still possible in modern times?
Suggestion:
There is not a courtroom nor public building in California where smoking is permitted.
And I very much doubt if any lawyer in the oast 100 years or so was smoking a cigar in a courtroom in California.
