Why People Smoke and Why People Should Quit Smoking

For some, the decision to give up smoking means to drop out everything. It has become a part their lives that most smokers can’t live without it. The truth is that, cigarettes work like a toxic potion that slowly kills those that are taking it. You may not feel it now, but sooner or later, its outcome will just surprise you, and then you can’t do anything about it anymore.

For every 10 milligrams of nicotine present on each cigarette stick, about 10-20% of it comes into the smoker’s brain when he inhales some of the smoke. What happens to the 80% left? Well, the rest of it is being inhaled by your family or anyone closest to you with every puff you make. For your information, second hand smoke is much deadlier and a drop of pure nicotine can kill a person in a snap.

People who smoke may have some reasonable, but most of the time, invalid and inconsiderable reasons why they smoke and why they can’t stop smoking. One of the most common grounds you hear from them is to control nervousness. They think that every puff they make would make them feel more calm and loosened up. Although the truth is that nicotine is a stimulant that causes your heart pound faster. There is no way it can make you more settled from whichever angle you try to view the possibilities. It’s just a simple make-believe effect that most smokers have already planted in their nicotine-coated minds.

Also, another reason is for trimming food consumption. Most people who want to trim down weight try to forbid eating and smoke instead. Since smoking can apparently help them to lose their appetite, smokers will just replace their food intake with nicotine intake. This is an insane remedy for their diet but most people still desperately do this for the sake of losing weight.

Other causes why people got into the smoking addiction are because of peer pressure, curiosity, and rebellion. While others didn’t like it and felt dizzy or even felt nausea the first time they tried it, others have tried it again and actually liked the feeling. Time passed by and what they now know today is that they can’t live without a cigarette to puff and getting out of the addiction seems to be the most difficult thing to do.

While there are many reasons why people started smoking, there are far more reasons why people should quit smoking. If you do not want nicotine to eat every part of your body bit by bit, it’s never too late to change and turn things around. If you can’t find enough reasons to quit, the love for yourself and your family are enough grounds why you should stop smoking before it’s too late. As much as your habituation keeps you from living a healthy life, just remember that your mind is more powerful than that. No one else can help you quit smoking but you.

Have a healthy lifestyle. Quit smoking today and enjoy your family and love ones by living longer and healthier.
