Why is Tobacco Still Legal When It Kills Everyone Who Uses It and Has No Redeeming Qualities?

I think something like 50% of all smokers die of cancer or other diseases caused by smoking. So what gives?

Suggestion:

same reason that alcohol isn't an illegal substance. politicians have had their hands in the cookie jar of these corporations and want to keep the money flowing. hemp was made illegal in the 20's, not because it comes from a plant that produces a drug, but because hemp was a major competitor with cotton farms. politicians back then criticized the plant for it's hallucinogenic qualities as a way to make laws against it so their stocks in the cotton market wouldn't fail. it's never been based on the morality, just business
