even with nicorette the biggest thing you need is will power, i found the best way is to carry tooth brush with you and brush your teeth every time you crave a cigarette, avoid alcohol for the first 3 weeks, avoid tea and coffee for the first week, drink fruit juice instead, when you stop smoking your metabalism will slow down so you have to slightly reduce your food intake to compensate otherwise you will put on weight
good luck

My Holier than thou answer (I gave up 38 years ago, 60 Capstan Full Strength a day).
The only way is to realise that every time you want a cigarette you will find an excuse to have one. Once you realise that you know that you are going to find an excuse (it's for my nerves, it's for after dinner) you can counter act the excuse.
I tried several times with capsules etc but in the end it was will power. You will only have to really fight it for about 2 weeks then it gets easier but don't forget he is sitting on your shoulder urging you on.

pick up other hobbies to keep you busy. check out what your community has to offer for classes. take dance lessons or join a volleyball team. you could volunteer to run events for you community too.

i enjoy playing texas hold em socially at bars for free. that's my hobby.

i heard chewing gum helps.

there are also this neat invention i saw my friend with that looks like a cigarette but its actually steam. you inhale steam instead of smoke, and its legal to use inside buildings. not sure what its called.

Want to join world of warcraft? Do you like mmo rpg games? that becomes an addiction for alot of people right there. which replaces an old addiction.

You consult your medical doctor on several plans
