Another day dawns and no-one in Europe or the US has died in a terror attack yet hundreds have died from the effects of drugs, alcohol, smoking, car accidents, murder, muggings, industrial pollution and so on.
I don't believe your average Afghan goat herd wants to sell his goats and come to Europe or the US and bomb us. Nor do I believe we are winning the war in Afghanistan. If we are not winning the war there, how are we stopping anyone coming to Europe or the US to terrorise us? If you were an Afghan, wouldn't you be MORE likely to come and bomb people who had travelled around the world with their weapons to oppress you? How would you feel if Afghan troops patrolled your streets and claimed they were there for YOUR good? I think this is the reason why we're in Afghanistan.

What's the connection between The Pentagon and mineral resources?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/14/world/asia/14minerals.html
or even earlier, from 2007
http://afghanistan.cr.usgs.gov/minerals.php
Are we there fighting terrorists, building schools and health centres? winning hearts and minds or prospecting for minerals?
The question you should perhaps ask yourselves is "why are my tax dollars or pounds being used to send my brothers and sisters to die in Afghanistan? and if I don't have shares in the companies that will exploit these mineral deposits, what do I get out of this deal?
In the UK, all I seem to hear is more demands for us to be grateful for the jobs our troops are doing. Yesterday was "Armed Forces Day" and whilst the government would have us believe as few as 3 per cent of the prison population in the UK are ex service personnel
http://www.theyworkforyou.com/wms/?id=2010-01-06a.6.0
whilst others claim it's a huge under estimation

Personally, I feel I can't afford the taxes needed to send troops to Afghanistan and the care they need afterwards in prisons or from the social services, nor do I believe it's morally right for us to ask people, who in the UK are often working class, the lay their lives on the line so people who are already rich enough to own shares in mineral and mining companies can get even more rich from Afghanistan's minerals.
This video refers to Tory MPs thinking it's more important their ducks have a home than ex servicemen on the streets in London http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AB0Nol2Rgvk
I wonder how many homeless ex service personnel died during the dreadful last winter in Europe?
I admire how clever it is to get millions of people to think we're fighting in Afghanistan because otherwise we'd be overrun with goat herds turned bombers who, despite being extremely poor, had somehow managed to reach the leafy suburbs or council estates where we live and bomb us, but I don't believe it in fact, the more i DO think about it, the UK is overrun with Kurds, Iraqis, Afghans, Iranians, Bosnians and so on so, where ARE all the bomb attacks from them?
Suggestion:
I guess they can fool some people all of the time.
