What Type of Lung Disease Might I Have?

I am 43 years old, non smoker, runner and male. About 6 months ago I developed a nagging cough which has not gone away. About 3 weeks ago, I started getting a little short of breath in addition to my coughing, and my aunt finally persuaded me to go the doc. I have no blood in my spit, and am not overly tired.

My primary care physician wasn't in, so I saw the PA. The PA just prescribed a bunch on inhalers and steroids and told me to come back in a week. She checked my breathing (both with a stethoscope) and some sort of machine where you have to blow all the leaves off the tree (computer based) before and after some medication. My symptoms have not changed.

I have been using the meds as prescribed, but I think maybe it's time to head to a pulonologist.

What could be wrong? I have never smoked, but my parents where smokers. I know the internet can't diagnose me, but maybe provide some hints.

Suggestion:

I would get a TB test.
