What Symptoms of Marfan Syndrome Can Be Treated with Cannabis?

I live in California where cannabis is legal for medicinal uses. I have all the symptoms of marfan's (except scoliosis). I take hydrocodone for my hip, back pain, and migranes. I'm afraid to ask my doctor about cannabis (without knowing alittle more) for fear i might get cut off my pain meds. So what marfan's symptoms could be treated with cannabis? keep in mind i would find an alternate to smoking.

Suggestion:

I don't use it, but several other Marfs I know do, in addition to other pain meds. One of them uses it for spinal migraines (which are a result of cerebral spinal fluid leaks due to dural ectasia) and the rest use it for various joint pains. Cannabis does not interact with beta blockers (the usual heart med) but any other medication interactions would have to be discussed with your doctor. I can't imagine your doctor would just cut you off your pain meds for asking; s/he should start you on it and then see if other meds are still necessary/if doses should be adjusted.

If you're interested in talking with other people who are using cannabis for Marfan-related pain, I suggest you create a profile on NMF Connect. It's kind of like Facebook, but for people with Marfan & related disorders. Just start a discussion about cannabis; others will respond. The address is: http://nmfconnect.marfan.org. (Also, there are several Marfan groups in CA, I run one, so you can look into those on NMF Connect as well.)

Good luck!
