I know this is very long, but I really need some help, and I wanted to be as thorough as possible in hopes of someone relating somehow.
For a couple of weeks now I have been getting ridiculously severe itching all over LITERALLY every single part of my body (even vaginal area etc now). It just keeps getting worse. I pile on the Hydrocortizone Cream over almost every part of me, I've taken Clariton in the day, and Benedryl at night, and another type of itch gel. I wake up scratching, and have sat there for almost an hour itching from head to toe, sometimes so badly that I bleed a little even after taking benedryl AND applying a topical antihistamine. I just realized tonight, that a while back I was prescribed Prednizone (sorry for all the bad spelling of product names) and I remembered that it was due to the Iron Supplements I was taking, which they said it couldn't be the iron itself I was allergic to, but some other inactive ingredient, possibly the dye. So, with that in mind, I recently had my prescription of Paroxetine HCL (Generic Paxil) increased to 20 mg tablets, the old pills were white, the new are pink. I'm wondering could the supplements I took before and this new dosage now colored both contain whatever inactive ingredient I had reacted to before? I've been researching all night and see that they both have Magnesium Stearate, and Yellow #6, and they both have a red dye, but not the exact same one (iron pills have red #40, and Paroxetine has red #30. I've also recently started smoking those new Electronic Cigarettes, but I smoke those every day, and one day I had no itching at all, and I'm wondering if that day I had forgotten to take my Paroxetine the night before, because I do forget sometimes. The itching is a zillion times worse at night, and I take my Paroxetine before bed, so i makes sense to me that this is somehow causing it. But, my question(s): 1. Are there any different ingredients in a 10 mg Paroxetine vs a 20 mg? Cause I can't seem to find any, so why would I suddenly be allergic when the dose increased? 2. If it were the Electronic Cigarettes, why would it stop completely for an entire day with no allergy pills taken either, when I usually smoke the same amount each day and the days I smoke more than usual it doesn't get worse?
I know I should consult my doctor, and I will, but I wanted to see if anyone else has been where I have been using any of these things or if anyone knows what the heck is going on (plus weekend now so have to wait til Monday and I'm losing it here). I can't even function sometimes, and I'm afraid to even move or have anyone accidentally brush up against me for fear of an accidental tickle that will start the whole entire itch craziness over again. It's getting nuts. I was half tempted to go to the ER tonight, but I wanted to exhaust every resource before heading in there and looking stupid and spending a ton of money. I have a short term memory disorder (for lack of a better way to explain it briefly) so I am not sure exactly how long this has been going on, but a few weeks at least. At first we thought it was stress related because it started as smaller itchy hives that seemed to appear under severe stress (which yes is often lately, but not THAT often lol). Anyone, anything??? Any thoughts, comments, suggestions are appreciated. Or even a site that would help me figure it out cause I'm tired of searching online night after night, maybe someone else out there knows something that could help me. Oh, and for some reason my face never seems to be itchy thats the ONLY body part excluded from this. And I had read that if you think you're allergic to the liquid found in electronic cigarettes to place a drop on the inner of your arm, and scratch it and see if it reacts, and I did that and not a thing happened, it was crystal clear there, no itching at all or even redness from direct skin contact.
Suggestion:
Gosh hun ……. my first thought is to get rid of the insane itching …. go get a cup of white vinegar and dump it in a bath of warm water and swish it up and lay in that and soak for 15 minutes…. that will realkalise the ph level of your skin and dissolve the horrible pain …… until of course you ingest the offending ingredient again ….. go do it now…. what have you got to lose hey….. that's what i used on my little ones till i worked out it was our soap (dove sensitive) and commercial laundry powder …… yes it could be an ingredient in the meds you are using ….. magnesium stearate from memory disrupts cell function and depresses the immune system… icky red 40 and red 30 and yellow 6 …… i know that 104 is quinoline yellow and it's linked to hyperactivity, skin rashes, asthmatics should avoid it and it's banned in norway and USA ….. and red is notoriously linked to skin rashing …… try the white vinegar in warm water and then at least you'll be able to think clearer…. ditch the ones with the magnesium stearate and red dyes and yellow dyes if they aren't imperative for you to breathe and go see your physician on monday and ask for alternatives without chemical sludge in them.
peace
