On the track, "Wish You Were Here", it is said that the sound of David Gilmour coughing on the intro is what made him stop smoking.
Any trivial, little known facts about a band, band member, or song will do…
Answer:
That AC/DC got its name from Angus and Malcolm's sister's sewing machine!
That Black Sabbath's Paranoid album was originally going to be called War Pigs(which is why the cover has a soldier attacking someone from jumping out from behind a tree and it was too late to change the artwork after they renamed the album Paranoid) cause the didn't make the song Paranoid yet and their manager told them that they were a track short so Ozzy, Tony, Geezer, and Bill all got pissed off and they quickly went into a room, with the intention of just creating a filler track, and Tony quickly wrote the music and Geezer quickly wrote the lyrics and they were done creating Paranoid in about 15 minutes and then they renamed the album Paranoid cause their manager thought War Pigs would be too controversial with the war in Vietnam but like a said before they changed the name of the album too late so they couldn't change the artwork on the cover of the album!
Rush basically told their manager to f u c k off when their 3rd album Caress of Steel was a commercial failure and a step backwards in album sales and their manager said it was because of their long epic 15-20 minute songs and he told them to shorten their songs so they can be played on the radio. So to show their manager, for their 4th album, 2112, the made the song 2112 over 20 minutes long and 2112 proved to be Rush's breakthrough album!
Dave Mustaine thought of the name Megadeth while he was in the van with James, Lars, and Cliff right after he was kicked out of Metallica and they were driving him to the bus stop to send him home and Dave was reading a newspaper at the time and he saw the word megadeath in an article in the newspaper cause it is actually a word that means a death of over a million people or some number like that at the same time. Dave Mustaine thought of pretty much all of the riffs from Countdown to Extinction while playing basketball with the rest of his bands members in the back of the recording studio!
When Dio recorded the song Rainbow in the Dark for their Holy Diver album, Ronnie James Dio hated the song cause he thought it sounded like a pop song and he tried to destroy the tape the song was recorded on with a razor blade but the rest of the band stopped him and it turns out Rainbow in the Dark is 1 of Dio's greatest songs!
Before Nicko McBrain was the drummer in Iron Maiden, he was dressed as the devil in Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast music video!
Rob Halford 1st joined Judas Priest cause the founding member of Judas Priest, bass player Ian Hill, could not find a lead singer and he was dating Rob Halford's sister at the time and she said that her brother Rob could sing and after that, history was made!
I know there is more that i know but that's what i came up with off the top of my head right now!

Drummer Mike Portnoy of the band Dream Theater had an alchohol addiction. He went through the 12 AA steps to help cure his addiction. He then decided to dedicate 5 songs from 5 different albums to his journey through the process. The series progresses through this song and album order
The Glass Prison – Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
This Dying Soul – Train of Thought
The Root of All Evil – Octavarium
Repentence – Systematic Chaos
The Shattered Fortress – Black Clouds & Silver Linings
All great songs by a great band.
Some Soundgarden facts:
Chris Cornell was the original drummer for Soundgarden until the band drafted Scott Squindist for drumming, so Chris could focus on his vocals.
Chris Cornell's third child, Christopher Nicholas was baptized in 2009, by Anna Vissi, and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park (lol).
Before becoming a successful musician, Chris Cornell worked at a seafood wholesaler and was a sous chef at a restaurant named Ray's Boathouse.
Before joining Soundgarden as their bassist, Ben Shepherd listed Soundgarden has his favorite band.
Ben Shepherd was born on an American military base in Japan.
At the age of thirteen, Matt Cameron (Soundgarden's drummer) and some friends played in a cover band called "Kiss" (with the word imitation written underneath the name, in small print). During this stint, he met Paul Stanley. However, after a letter from the management of the band Kiss threatened the children with legal action if they did not cease their infringement, the band melted away.
Matt attended Buena Vista High School under the pseudonym "Foo Cameron", which he chose because his younger brother pronounced "Matthew" as "Ma Foo".
Lol, that's about all I know.
Three DAys Grace!
The band started as Groundswell
Adam was in rehab for his addiction to oxy contin
That was where he wrote most of their songs for their second album, one-x
Adam has a trubute for his grandmother in the form of a tattoo on his arm
He has some of the lyrics of his song "never too late" tattooed on his arm.
He married his highschool sweetheart
At then end of the Who's "Happy Jack" Pete yells, "I saw yer!" because Keith snuck back into the studio to sing the backing vocals in the song. lol
Grateful Dead got their name from a dictionary, Jerry was flipping through, "Grateful Dead" caught his eye, and he said, "Hey, man, how 'bout the Grateful Dead?" Grateful Dead mean "soul of a dead person"
At the end of the song "Pure and Easy" Pete yells, "Put away your girly magazines!"
Led Zeppelin got their name when Keith Moon suggested, "You'll go over like a lead zeppelin!" Their oringial name was "Yard Birds"
i love music trivia stuff!
Well, I heard once that while George Harrison was losing his virginity, the other members of the Beatles were cheering him on….
But Genesis…what isn't known about Genesis….
Ooh, I got one. Their famous (relatively) song "The Musical Box" was based off of a piece called "F#" by their original guitarist, Anthony Phillips.
I Love Damnation of Adam Blessing and on their album "Which is the Justice, Which is the Truth" there is a photo of the band standing on a street corner and right after it was taken, they were jumped by a bunch a rednecks and beat up pretty bad and had to see refuge in the bar. Here are my 3 favorite songs by them. They completely obliterate the Lulu song "Morning Dew" Julie, I know you have heard a couple of these before

Hey Problem child!!
At birth, Thom Yorke's left eye was fixed shut, the doctors determined that the eye was paralyzed and that the condition was permanent. Yorke's parents took him to an eye specialist, who suggested a muscle graft. Yorke underwent five eye operations before he was six years old. His father, a chemical equipment salesman, was hired by a firm in Scotland shortly after his son's birth and the family lived there until Yorke was seven. During this time Yorke had to wear a patch over his eye. He has stated that the last surgery was "botched," giving him a drooping eyelid! or what we sometimes affectionately refer to as " Thom's wonky eye" .
back in the 70's the grateful dead sold tickets through mail for their shows. when ticketmaster started up they sent a team of lawyers to the band's office and told the dead that they had exclusive agreements to sell tickets for most of the venues that the dead played, and the dead were infringing in that agreement by selling tickets through the band's office. . it got silent for a moment and then jerry said, "we have had an agreement with these venues to sell an allotment of tickets before ticketmaster was in existence…it seems to me that ticketmaster is infringing on our agreement and maybe we will sue ticketmaster. the lawyers left and shortly after got an agreement from ticketmaster to sell an allotment of tickets for their shows, good tickets right down front. they still sell those tickets by mail order and over the internet to this day….i started getting my tickets from the dead's people back then, and i still do to this day.
when the grateful dead's attorneys heard that ben and jerry's was selling an ice cream called cherry garcia they went to jerry and said they were using his name without a license to do so and jerry should sue them. jerry said, "well, it's good ice cream, isn't it?" of course, that attitude didn't stop jerry from buying a new bmw with the first check he got from ben and jerry…..
only one i got, is on GnRs rocket queen, the gal moaning was steven adlers gf. Axl talked her into screwin him on the tape, "for the betterment of the band". Part of why adler was kicked out of the band as well as the drug usage. Well, his extreme drug usage.
