i need a little advice. i saw an old friend a couple of weeks ago sporting an electronic cigarette. as a saxophonist, he was raving about how they changed his life, how his lungs were better etc. unlike him, i was never a heavy smoker but was aware of the effects that my 5-10 a day were causing over the last 10 years. problem is, i am experiencing some uncomfortable throat issues, i have researched and discovered it's fairly normal, but have no idea how long this could go on. i am a singer and it is affecting my voice (in good ways also as far as lung capacity goes) but it is painful to sing right now and i need to work on a new show over the next few weeks. the e-cig has helped immensely and i don't want to smoke again, but i really need some idea of how to combat these particular side affects and be able to use my voice well again. can anyone help?
thanks
Suggestion:
Propylene glycol is the main ingredient in most ecig liquid (that makes the vapour visible) draws moisture to itself – it's a humectant. This means that when the vapour is in your mouth it can dry your throat. Lots of vapers solve this problem by drinking more, especially before bed.
If that doesn't help then you could try a glycerine based liquid.
If you have 'quitters flu', I'm not sure how long that will last. It might be a matter of detoxifying (drinking lots helps with that too) or getting used to a different dose of nicotine.
