Smoking While Pregnant?

I'm 26 weeks pregnant & I'm having a very hard time quitting. I used to smoke about a pack a day & now I'm down to under two cigarettes, & I feel so guilty. I'm curious as to what effects this will have on my baby & if anyone has any tips on how to stop completely.

Suggestion:

I've been where you are and I know how you feel. I also smoked about a pack a day when I found out I was pregnant. I never completely quit, I was down to about 3-4/day. I'm not condoning smoking while pregnant but my daughter was born completely healthy at 8lbs, 5 days late. I never smoked in public and the only one who knew was my husband. He tried to help me stop smoking in the beginning but I would sneak them at work or after he went to bed. I was stubborn and addicted, so I didn't quit.

The possible effects from smoking while pregnant can be, but not limited to; low birth weight, prematurity and respiratory problems. None of which my daughter had. My son was born fairly small and was constantly sick his first year of life when I didn't smoke at all and we were rarely around cigarette smoke.

I can tell you really want to quit and be a good mother. You've made a tremendous improvement so just keep trying, and good luck.
