Ive gone a whole day without smoking but by the end of the night i grab a cig. Tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Suggestion:

The first thing you need to work out is if you're smoking because you're suffering withdrawal or just out of habit. Habits can be beaten, but chemical dependency takes a bit more work!

If it is just habit, find something to replace it. Smoking cessation services recommend simple things like eating carrot sticks when you'd normally have a cig. Freeze a bunch of grapes and suck on one of them in place of a cigarette. You'll notice these are healthy foods, since nobody wants to start gaining weight when they stop smoking!

If you're in withdrawal then the only option is to go with a replacement. Patches are okay, as long as you get the correct dosage – my girlfriend was given the wrong dosage patches and spent her last night as a smoker throwing up. In hindsight a good final memory of cigarettes (she won't miss it), but not so great at the time. Gum is better because it contains nicotine AND keeps your mouth busy when it might normally have a cig in it.

You should also reward yourself for minor landmarks. So one day, one week, one month, etc. Buy yourself something special. Doesn't have to be really expensive, just something that admits you've done well, something you wouldn't normally buy. Keeping morale up is really important.
