Quit Smoking! Five Tips to Help You Finally Quit

Have you ever attempted to cease smoking cigarettes? If so, you know first hand, how hard it actually is to kick the habit. It usually takes two or three attempts to stop smoking, so don’t get too depressed if you don’t succeed at first. I know how hard it is to quit smoking, so with that said, I would like to share with you five quick tips that will help you quit smoking:

  1. Make having a cigarette as awkward as possible. You want to start out by buying the most disgusting tasting brand of cigarettes. Once you get the cigarettes home you want to take out the saran wrap, and begin wrapping each one of them individually. You will now have to work a little harder for that cigarette (you will also be rewarded with a bad tasting cigarette).
  2. Find a “quit smoking” buddy. This can be a close friend or relative (preferably someone that lives with you) who is also trying to quit smoking. It helps when you have someone to talk to when you start having cravings. Your quit smoking buddy will be able to talk you through the cravings. Remember, two heads are always better then one.
  3. Always keep your mouth busy. You can accomplish this by chewing gum or by sucking on a piece of hard candy.
  4. Avoid environments where you know there will be smokers as this may trigger your craving. You can always look at stop smoking aids if this is not possible (they will help you with your cravings).
  5. You want to dispose of all your lighters, matches, and ash trays that are lying around your house. These items are big triggers, and should be removed immediately. If you are not able to remove them yourself, get a friend or relative to do it for you.

I hope you have found these tips useful, and I wish you all the best of luck at finally giving up smoking.
