Most Common Cause for an Achey Left Arm About the Elbow?

72 yr old male, mild COPD from smoking, for the past 10days or longer waking up early am (3 – 4) with severe ache in left arm. Exact location vague, but in area of elbow. Pain subsides and returns through the day but never as severe as the early am. No other aches, pains or symptoms. Not taking any prescription meds. No lifting or activity to cause muscle strain. What do you think?

Suggestion:

At your age and with COPD history you need to see doc to rule out any heart related issues – hopefully not likely but don't take the chance.
Pain can be coming from your neck, a trapped nerve type thing around shoulder, or from the elbow or soft tissues there.
