There is a lot of debate on whether smoking should be legal or not OR that it is not as damaging as people think. What do you make of this? Is it true that smoking pot has a harmful influence to the body?
Most people should not drink or smoke since that has a harmful effect on the body or can cause you to do something that you don't mean to do. Is smoking pot at all just as harmful or what?
Suggestion:
This is very controversial. Almost every stoner will tell you it is not, and practically every parent and DARE freak will misinform you with random information like how it will cause you to have mental breakdowns and become lazy and unable to learn. Cannabis, from what has been scientifically proven, only supports that recreational cannabis use may cause short-term memory loss. Just like alcohol, but alcohol can and will cause brain damage. Marijuana is also not addictive, yet it can be slightly habit forming. Alcohol is addictive, and so is caffeine, so why criminalize pot? Marijuana may contain more toxins than tobacco, but from what I can tell people who smoke only cannabis have never or rarely developed lung cancer or even all that much shortness of breath. Some of the reasons being are that THC may kill some of the other nasty chemicals in your lungs. Also, the average smoker may smoke 20-40 cigarettes a day, with all their nasty preservatives. A cannabis smoker may smoke the equivalent of one to two joints a day. That may amount to anywhere between 4-10 cigarettes. Many people are also occaisional smokers. Pot also doesn't cause organs to fail or shutdown, and it is impossible to overdose by smoking pot, as the active chemical THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) would have to be taken in an extremely large dose, which is to much to take at one time. I heard you have to smoke 10,000 joints in fifteen minutes to overdose. Just try and do that… It would cost too much. As for pot making you lazy, it can, but this is more of a choice. Pot makes you tired. It can also make you creative. I don't think smoking a joint before going to a sports event would be a good idea, same with before you do homework. But I know many people who can smoke pot and go finish a job perfectly, actually the hardest working person I know, who is sometimes on call 24/7, smokes cannabis very frequently. So, pot is not that dangerous. Tylenol and other Over-the-Counter Drugs kill more people per year, and pot has alot of legitimate medical uses, as well as being safer than alcohol and caffeine for a recreational drug. So don't be so quick to judge, as marijuana was banned for reasons including racism, corporate and government financial gain, as well as to protect the tobacco industry and alcohol industry. Hemp also jeopardized the logging and paper industry. Really though, read up on the situation yourself, as there are alot of better sources than my opinion on it.
