Oh dear I really wish it were that easy. It is said that if you have NO cigarettes at all for a full 2 years it is unlikely that you will take it up again, but still of course not impossible.

The drug will leave your system, but addiction is something else entirely. Addiction is the craving for more of the drug. Addiction alters body chemistry, and even though the drug is gone in three days, and a habit can be replaced in two weeks, a physical or psychological addiction may never be overcome, or you never think about it again. It's very individual.
It depends on your degree of addiction. Some people can stop with no major problems – they're just short of things to fiddle with. Generally if you can last 3 days, it gets easier, but some people still have pangs months later. If you're worried about your ability to give up, see your doctor.
No, the physical addiction may pass quickly but the psychological dependence can stay with you any amount of time.
My co-worker hasn't smoked a real cigarette in a month using an e-cigarette instead. I got them for my husband, but he just started a few days ago. Here's the link:
