Have You Taken Chantix or Used the Patch to Help Quit Smoking?

I took it for about 3 months a year or so ago and while on it I did stop smoking entirely. The only reason I stopped taking it was due to the side effects. On two occasions while on Chantix I woke up (after having been asleep) to find myself standing in nothing but my boxer shorts in the parking lot of my apartment complex and locked out of my apartment at 5 am. I have read that the drug does cause other people to sleepwalk and I can say from experience that it can lead to some pretty embarrassing situations. Although now I really want to quit smoking and I am debating if I should use the patch or go back to Chantix (despite the side effects) and which one would be more effective. I smoke just under a pack a day and I really, really need to quit. If anyone has used either method to quit please share your experience or recommendations.

Suggestion:

Personally, I think the patch is awful. The lowest dose is 7mg over 24 hours which is the equivalent of about a pack of lights, so once you stop the patch you are still quite nicotine dependent. Also, if you sweat or live in a place with humidity, they fall off easily and won't go back on. I used to sleepwalk, the best thing to do is install a lock inside that needs a key to open it, and put the key in a place where your sleep-self won't find it. (When I had the problem as a very small child, my parents put a deadbolt at the very top of the door-frame so I couldn't reach it and get out.
