Smoking can pose a risk to your body’s overall well-being. This might be the very reason you decided to quit smoking. There are some effects of quitting smoking (positive as well as negative) that you should be conscious of.

Some positive effects of quitting smoking:

Good things will happen to your body shortly after you stop smoking. What is your real motivation to stop smoking? When you stop smoking, the levels of oxygen in your body will increase and this will enhance the functioning of your lungs significantly. Probably the biggest difference you may notice is how your breathing gets easier. Smokers usually do not have a good sense of smell and taste. However, this will change within few hours of your last cigarette and after a few days, your sense of taste and smell will become normal and is widely reported as one of the immediate positive effects of quitting smoking.

Your risk of a having heart attack is reduced when you quit smoking. A large majority of blood circulatory problems can also be avoided by stopping smoking. Lastly, your stamina is very likely to get better over time. Sleeping is likely to get better drastically because of easier breathing.

Some negative side effects of quitting smoking:

One of the negative effects of quitting smoking is associated with a fall in blood sugar level. To counter act this drop, it is advised to drink fresh fruit juice and water on a regular basis.

You may also detect dizzyness, faintness, sickness, tenseness and irritability. Most of these symptoms are only temporary and you should see them go away with time.

Exercise is a great idea to fight some of the more negative effects of quitting smoking; be sure to check with a doctor before you start any serious exercise routines.
