Are These the Symptoms of a Heart Condition or Just Anxiety?

I have many symptoms and am not finding the right answer anywhere. Recently I had what I thought to be a panic attack. I felt like I was having a heart attack, went to the ER but everything was fine. That was a week ago and my chest is still feeling tight and I can feel my heart beating harder and sometimes faster. I also wake up many times during the night and when I wake up in the morning I have abdominal pain. I was prescribed zoloft and recently quit smoking. Is this the right diagnosis or is something else causing these symptoms?

Suggestion:

Anxiety and the associated stress can do more to you than most people are aware of. Long term constant anxiety can result in a stomach ulcer or acid reflux. Acid reflux can give you that tight feeling in the middle of your chest. Anxiety can give you a heightened awareness of just about any bodily function, with the heart near the top of the list. Anxiety can make your heart beat faster which will become more noticeable to you….. which will make you more anxious…..which can make your heart beat even faster and harder…. and so forth. Your symptoms are too varied and disconnected to point to any single physical condition as the cause. The abdominal pains could be something as simple as gas or as serious as an appendix or hernia. Anxiety can play some nasty tricks on you. At this point in time I suggest you let the Zoloft take effect. The drug builds up in your body over a period of 1 to 2 weeks to have its full effect. Then if you are still having some serious symptoms time for a trip back to the doctor.

There is a good chance that it could be from you quitting smoking.
If you still get cravings, and resist them, it could be your body trying to tell you that it wants the nicotine. In general it would feel like a panic attack ( or an anxiety attack) but would essentially be nothing.

Thats just my take on it.

Symptoms of Heart Disease
Coronary artery disease, heart attack — each type of heart disease has different symptoms, although many heart problems have similar warning signs. The symptoms you experience depend on the type and severity of your heart condition. Learn to recognize your symptoms and the situations that cause them. Call your doctor if you begin to have new symptoms or if they become more frequent or severe.

Anxiety self help – is it possible?
The words anxiety self help conjure up images of yoga, meditation, book reading and note taking but none of these devices offer a true cure. Anxiety self help offers a simple, fast and permanent solution but only if you follow the correct program and only if that program follows a definite structure that adheres to a recognized, proven format.
